Bay Local Eatery: A Culinary Gem in Virginia Beach

Our first visit was a Friday afternoon after the lunch rush. The atmosphere was beautiful- airy, bright and beautifully decorated. We were seated quickly and greeted by our friendly server. Interesting concept that all the servers work together so anyone can stop by and help if you need anything. Our meals were wonderful. My sister ordered the side Caesar salad which looked like a full meal. I ordered the crab cake and fries- and the crab cake was top notch! All meat- barely any filler and the cocktail sauce was zingy. The fresh fries were perfectly seasoned and yummy. We were not familiar with the 18% auto gratuity - but honestly, if you’re having issues with service that would cause you to leave an less than tip- ask for the manager and allow them to make it right. I found it completely reasonable to pay the auto gratuity. Serving is a thankless job and if you can’t tip appropriately, you shouldn’t tie up the tables for people that are willing to enjoy their dining experience and tip.

Beth is the best bartender i’ve had. I usually go to Egg Bistro for the service, but the aesthetic and the look of the restaurant takes the cake. I can see myself bringing my girls and friends here to hang out and have a good time.

Always a popular spot! Bay local always delivers :) Sadly, they don’t take reservations (at least for a casual group, not sure about parties), so it can get tricky if you have a lot of people. But we had a table for 6 and we arrived around 1pm! Seated within 15 min. Not sure if we got lucky but we did go to the general booth location. Portions are massive and delicious. I ordered the blueberry waffles and I could barely finish one. It also came with a choice of bacon or sausage (I didn’t take a full pic). Also got calamari for the group and those were crispy, fresh, and not oily! So good with the sauces or alone! Recommend if you want a solid brunch place to hang with friends.

The food is delicious! The portions are HUGE!! Everything is so fresh. The restaurant is always very busy, but our waitress was fabulous! She was on top of everything. Drinks were awesome. Atmosphere was as cool oasis like. Can’t wait to go back again.

I would recommend everyone to try this place out. You won't be disappointed. The Oyster Rockefeller Omelet was the best omelet I have ever had. Even the tater tots were great. The old fashion drink was spot on with a hint of their own twist, which was amazing. The server and staff were absolutely joyful and you can tell they take care of their customers. Overall, this place gets a top ranking spot on my list. I will be dining in again to try other dishes on the menu.

We were impressed by our first visit to this location, which exceeded our expectations! On Saturday, we visited for brunch and were accommodated promptly with our party of five, likely due to fortunate timing, as a wait developed when we left. The atmosphere was enjoyable, although somewhat loud. Our server was exceptional, maintaining seamless service during a shift change. The Ta-chos were outstanding, with crunchy tots that added to their appeal. The cocktails were also well-made. Our entrees, the Big Al and the BLT, were skillfully prepared and served quickly. We had a wonderful brunch experience and highly recommend a visit.

This is a nice restaurant! It looks beautiful inside. The meal was very good and the waitress was helpful. I enjoyed my food but the one thing that really bothered me is the waitress added a 18% tip to my bill. It was only 3 people. This is not acceptable. You should not be adding a tip to our bill and not even tell the customers. And what if she was the worst waitress? She gets 18% no matter what. It is dishonest!
